If you record in Central Florida and don’t yet know of STIX, you surely will soon. Ask any local emcee what’s their favorite place to record at and you will probably hear about Wyldelife studios. Wyldelife studios is currently located in Kissimmee, Florida. A very comfortable place to record at, not only do they offer unbeatable rates, quality and service, but they have what no other studio anywhere else has….. STIX!

Stix, what do you do?
Engineer, Compose, Songwriter, Rap, Grind

Where did you get the name?
I used to be a little stick figure back in the day and niggaz used to clown me cause my roots was Haitian so I combined the two and then I switch the sticks to S.T.I.X. S.ubliminal T.eacher I.nvestigating the X. Unknown. I stay teaching and I stay learning

How did you get started in the music business?
I was in a group called the Beedie Hedz back in the day and I just wanted to make things happen so decided to go try to get my foot in the door. So I went to Full Sail to help myself become independent as far as production was concern then in 1998 when I graduated Full Sail moved to the Atlanta and got to work for the legendary 2 Short. I had recorded a couple tracks on his nationwide compilation and the rest was history

What motivates you?
Knowing that Donald Trump, Bill Gates, and what ever wealthy hustler out there is working with same about of hours in a day as me. If they can get it so can I. Your boy got big plans and a lot of people gonna eat.

What are some challenges you have had to face in the business?
Finding people that can be on the same page. Business is business. It either hustle or get hustled

What advice would you give to new artists/ producers?
Don”t ever try to be like anyone else, make everyone else want to be like you. Then you know you got something.

What can someone expect when recording with you?
To always get there monies worth. This is no hobby I really do this

What’s missing in Orlando?
A radio station with balls enough to show local artist love

Any last words?
Let me get a Khaled budget and watch how I change the game!!!!

How can you be contacted?
(407) 973-2711 or email haitianblood@juno.com

DJ SHU, musician, producer and engineer is one of the realest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in Orlando. Originally from Michigan City, Indiana, DJ SHU has made Orlando his home for the past 8 years.

How did you get the name? When I first started DJing I really couldn’t play that well so I would really get fly new everything- shoes included. Everybody would notice that I always had fresh kicks on so they started calling me Shu. After 17 years playing I’ve never spun wearing the same pair twice.

What do you see wrong with our hip hop community? EGOS everyone’s too good to work together!

What do you think our hip hop community can do to unite itself? Judge people on the content of their music. There’s a few people down here that I don’t personally like but they make good music so I would work with them in a heartbeat. We can argue and fight after we make some heat.

What projects are you currently working on? I’m really busy right now- I have an artist name Ryan Good. I should be done with the album soon and It’s probably some of my best work. Carmen’s EP will be done soon, the whole COG lable (TY, Cognac Brown,) BLISS from HIM RECORDS and my acid Jazz album THE COFFEE SHOP and INSHUMENTALS all on deck

What can we expect from dj shu in the years to come? Slowly but surely moving away from doing rap- it doesn’t mean to me what it once did.

What advice would you give up and coming producers? Keep an open mind and study your craft. If you sample know where the samples come from.

Who are some of your favorite artists to work with and why? I enjoy working with everyone I work with or I wouldn’t work with them…..I never did it for the money.

Any last words for us? Thanks to everyone who supported Blu Note Studios. RIP BREEZIO and LORD RAIDON. BIG thanks to LSI Management, ALL PRO RECORDS/ LA MESSA, COLLAB ENT. and MY little sister SHA. For more info visit www.myspace.com/djshu
